It can be an in-situ testing & inspection system which is installed into the machinery that is producing parts or products, it can be an in-process testing or inspection system that monitors production at certain intervals prior to completion, or it can be a final testing and inspection system that tests and inspects finished products. Setting up in-situ and in-process test and inspection points on a manufacturing line can offer great advantages by detecting and sorting out defective components, parts and products before further labor & materials are invested into them. The earlier the detection and segregation of defective parts and products along a production line, the less costly it is for a manufacturing operation.
